17 01 10: invitation for discussions in the Wilaya (Governorate) of Souk Ahras (NE of Algeria, close to Tunisia), here reception by my hosts at the airport of Annaba in the "salle d'honneur"
Intensive and highly interesting meeting with the Wali (Governor) of the Wilaya
Thank you for the wonderful gifts!
Dinner with representatives of the Wilaya, of authorities and the municipality
17 01 11: instead of a small meeting, where I should present my portfolio and hold a general speech, they organised a big conference with entrepreneurs, reps of the university, the Wilaya, the municipality, authorities and all media. Under the patronage of the Wali. Great honour!
The President of the local CCI presented my CV.
Then, the floor was mine.
After a general speech regarding the cooperation between our two countries, I presented the portfolio of my business partners with their products and technologies.
TV, radio stations, photographers and newspapers were present.
I received two most beautiful vases with lids. I enjoy them every day I see them at home. Thank you very much!
The author of a book about St. Augustin gave me a signed book. Very kind and generous!
As to my surprise, I received many gifts from these wonderful and so hospitable people.
After the conference and a delicious lunch in the state residency, we made a tour through the Wilaya to visit several places.
The landscape is a plateau, green, located on an altitude of about 1.000 m.
I had expected a more desertic region. I was quite wrong!
Unfortunately, it was quite cold that day. About 4 degrees C.
We first visited an exceptional archaeological site, where the very much respected and honoured St. Augustin (354 - 430) lived. Formerly a huge Roman city.
Here, in Madaure, I signed the Golden Book.
My escort, in front of the site of Madaure
We continued our trip towards Bir Bouhouche.
Fascinating landscape with red soil.
Always accompanied by the police escort.
In the new Industrial Zone of Bir Bouhouche, we were already expected by an official delegation.
First, I was invited to plant an olive tree as symbol for the German-Algerian Business Friendship and Cooperation. A great experience!
Always, controlled that I am watering well. :-)
Visit of a fully automated plant for producing animal feedstuff.
Examples of the animal feedstuff.
Next, visit of a fully automated plant for manufacturing composite stones.
Plant under construction for manufacturing poles and towers
We continued our roundtrip to Sedrata.
In Sedrata, we visited a manufacturer for printing paper, exercise and notebooks etc.
Using 20 y old German machines
Another wonderful gift! Thank you all so much for your kindness, hospitality and generosity! A wonderful Wilaya with great people and impressing entrepreneurs. The END!
